Our Coming Home View is Threatened!

We need your help!

Skagit County has issued a notice of Development Application and SEPA Checklist for a 54,000 sq. ft. processing facility on nearly five acres of prime farmland in Our Coming Home View!   Public Comments on the proposal are due Friday, July 24th by 4:30 PM.

While Skagitonians to Preserve Farmland supports and promotes agricultural processing, there are more appropriate sites available in Skagit County for these industrial uses, including at the Port of Skagit, which is already home to three agricultural processing businesses. There is simply no need to be converting our precious remaining farmland into impervious surfaces.

This proposal is especially troubling as it is along Interstate 5 and near the Conway Freeway Interchange.  Constructing such a large industrial facility at this location will only encourage urban sprawl in the only Agricultural Scenic Corridor in Washington State.

You can access the project description and SEPA checklist HERE.

To submit public comments electronically click HERE and follow the directions.

Please submit comments TODAY and let Skagit County know that we must preserve our remaining farmland – especially when there are viable opportunities to locate these facilities in appropriate areas.

Thank you for your help.
